Get to know the editorial board

How long have you been on the board?

About six months.

How did you first get involved with The Bone & Joint Journal?

I have been a reviewer for ten years, since starting as a consultant. I have also submitted many articles to the journal, and occasionally one has got published!

What is the best thing about being on the board?

Three things - I learnt a huge amount about the workings of the journal behind the scenes, which I had never appreciated. I am reassured by the rigour and scrutiny that goes into reviewing the submissions to ensure the highest quality data are published. And then an opportunity to learn from more experienced colleagues in the field of research and academia.

What one piece of advice would you give to others who might like to get more involved with The Bone & Joint Journal?

Start reviewing papers. It massively increases your own research quality - you understand better what makes a good manuscript.

What song is top of your operating room playlist?

Usually indy-folk. But if I am in a really fun mood we revert to Ace of Base or any other 90s anthems!
