Purpose of Study

To determine the clinical presentation and management of patients with traumatic finger amputations.

Methods

Patients who presented to the emergency unit of a major tertiary academic hospital were reviewed prospectively. A data collection form indicating the mechanism of injury and the treatment given among other parameters was completed for each patient. Data was entered into Microsoft Excel spread sheets and was then imported into Statistica software version 11.0. Parametric, continuous variables were described using means and standard deviations. Medians and interquartile ranges were used for non-parametric data. Categorical variables were described using frequencies and percentages

Aim:

To audit pertrochanteric fractures treated with a cephalomedullary device in a public health institution.

Method:

A retrospective 3 year analysis from January 2007 to December 2010 using theatre records and patient files.

Analysis was done in terms of age, time to surgery, duration of surgery, elective or emergency, type of device used, perioperative complications and other factors.

Purpose of Study

To investigate the level of Orthopaedic Residents' knowledge of safety techniques in the procedures involving the use of C-arm.

Methods

A survey of evidence based questions regarding safety techniques in the use of C-arm was administered to 58 Orthopaedic Residents from three major tertiary hospitals.

Purpose of study

To gather & interpret statistics surrounding orthopaedic trauma in order to improve on infrastructure & logistics within our department and to highlight the massive social burden of orthopaedic trauma

Description of methods

A retrospective review of all orthopaedic casualty, admissions and theatre cases in 2011 from casualty and theatre registries along with weekly Morbidity & Mortality presentations.
